Server Rules

For any questions, and for the most up-to-date set of rules, please visit our Discord.

General Rules

Every game server has a set of standard rules that all players must follow. The Potato Fields is no different. We are building a community based on teamwork, fair play and respect. As a result, our rules reflect that goal.

  1. No hate speech, racism, sexism, ableism or personal attacks of any kind.
  2. Admins can remove/ban or otherwise disable any tags, names (player or Discord user), squad names, etc. that they deem offensive or otherwise inappropriate.
  3. No toxicity, griefing or trolling.
  4. No spamming, be it in chat or voice during a game, on Discord channels or any other areas. This includes playing music over local chat during staging.
  5. No unapproved advertisement, recruiting or promotion.
  6. In game issues should be directed to an admin with the “!admin +msg”. Please state the offending player in the message. (E.g., !admin ['0] MoiDawg intentional tk).
  7. Appeal kicks and/or bans in #ban-appeals channel on Discord only, and report problems in #admin-hotline channel.
  8. Issues/suggestions should be discussed in our Discord, no in-game/chat arguing with admins.
  9. No impersonating admins or OWI staff.
  10. Admins have the ability to interpret suspect actions and behavior and take any action they see fit in order to protect the integrity of the TPF server and player community.
Seeding Rules

Seeding rules come into play once the server is restarted. In order to get players on the server, it's necessary to play what is essentially a limited game. This generally takes the form of an AAS layer where both factions play to intially win the center point. Once the server "is seeded" -- when there at least 20 active/assigned players on both factions -- the server is "LIVE", meaning the rest of the caps are played. Seeding rules, therefore, place some limits on the game since there aren't that many players on the server once it gets restarted.

  1. Fight over the middle cap.
  2. No FOBs on the middle cap.
  3. No emplacements during seeding. (E.g., mortars, TOWs, etc.). This includes once the server is live.
  4. No digging up nor attacking enemy FOBs until the server is live.
  5. ONLY admins can declare when the server is live, and they will do this with a broadcast message. Just because the player count shows 40 players doesn't mean all 40 players are active/assigned.
  6. Logis and transports only until the server is live. (E.g., no armed vehicles, including MATVs, Scout Cars, etc.)

Once the server is live, but still on the seeding layer, standard Gameplay Rules are in effect EXCEPT Seeding Rule 3: No emplacements during seeding. (E.g., mortars, TOWs, etc.)

Gameplay Rules

These are the rules that players must follow when playing Squad on any of our servers. Some rules -- like the "Vehicle Rule" -- may not be the best, but they're the best option based on how the game was built. When violations of these rules occur, we'll generally warn players at least once prior to kicking them from the server. Once kicked, it IS possible to re-join the server. (You just may be subject to waiting in the queue to re-join.) In especially egregious cases, we'll ban players anywhere from one (1) day to permanently. Any ban can be appealed on our Discord.

  1. No cheating.
  2. No use of glitches / exploits.
  3. No ghosting, stream sniping, and/or intentionally leaking information.
  4. No intentional team killing. Please apologize in chat for unintentional teamkills.
  5. No Main camping. This includes any assets camping while having a sight line directly to main and / or one of the roads leading out of main, unless these assets are contesting an active objective.
  6. No asset wasting. This includes helicopter ramming.
  7. Squadleaders must have a squadlead kit, a mic, and be able to communicate in English.
  8. Squadleaders can kick for any reason. No retaliation is acceptable.
  9. No creating a squad and immediately handing off SL to another player.
  10. Player names must contain at least 2 English characters.
  11. Vehicles are first come first served. Naming a squad based on role (e.g., BTR) is preferred, but does not reserve you that vehicle.
  12. No one-manning vehicles that require a crewman kit.
  13. Locked one man squads are only allowed for helicopters and non-crewman vehicles.
  14. If a group of players seem to be 'rolling' or otherwise providing a significant imbalance to gameplay, they may be asked to break up across teams to provide a more balanced game for all.
